Sweet Reaction: Voom002 - Vintage Record

Born in Roma in 1959, Guiseppe “Peps” Cotumaccio arrived in South Africa at the age of two. He became a pivotal figure in the South African music scene as the mastermind behind the band “Sweet Reaction,” where he showcased his talents as a singer and keyboardist. 

In the early 80s, the group gained recognition for backing various artists, including one of South Africa’s top singers, Neville Nash, who was also on the same record label, Music Team. Throughout his extensive career, Peps Cotumaccio collaborated with notable names such as Johnny Clegg, Ronnie Joyce, Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse, P.J. Powers, Mark Alex, and Mara Louw, among others, contributing to the rich tapestry of South African music and vintage records. 

The lead singer of Sweet Reaction, Dion Williamson, began his career performing in Johannesburg’s nightclubs, quickly becoming a sought-after artist. His gravelly and sensual voice captivated audiences as he performed popular songs by Joe Cocker. Unfortunately, during the Apartheid era, the South African Government enforced segregation between black and white audiences, which ultimately led to the band's split.
